Star Wars Van

For the most devoted Star Wars fan, as Ed Tahaney of Automobile points out, this vehicle would no doubt be extremely enticing since anything having to do with the franchise is typically something that Star Wars nuts at least look at and admire if not covet entirely. Someone put a lot of time, effort, and care into this vehicle however as it can be seen, as only a things on it seem unadorned by anything that might speak of how much the owner really cared about the franchise. Just as obvious though is the fact that whoever designed it was a more old school fan of the franchise since not only is the van something from the past, but the designs seen within are definitely kind of dated but still cool as can be. This is the kind of thing you might have seen rolling down the road in the late 70s into the 80s and thought that it was pretty cool or denoted a very hardcore fan.

Even Joey Paur from GeekTyrant seems pretty excited about this prospect and it’s hard not to be really. It’s not often that you see something like this on the floor of an automobile and for good reason since the average person tends to carry a great deal of crap in on the bottom of their shoes no matter where they’re walking and eventually something like this would be trashed just as any car floor would be. But if you had an insane rule about taking shoes off before entering the van it might work. Of course a lot of people might give you a funny look for such a thing but hey, this is a work of art, something you don’t just step on and wipe your feet with. Star Wars fans might not be too forgiving to those that decide to desecrate an image of the Millennium Falcon, though to be honest it might seem a bit crazy after a while to revere a fictional work in this manner. Still, respect for a person’s property would be enough to hopefully keep a person from simply dragging their dirty feet into the van and plopping them on the image of such an iconic representation of pop culture.

The fabric covering the back seat is another example of why this is old school since those images could have been produced recently but honestly it seems more than likely that this isn’t the case. The images you see have been used and recycled throughout the years by fans old and new so it’s a little hard to say that it’s entirely old school but the style and model of the van says that. The van is from back in the late 70s, and if someone from the current era had taken this and done this work or paid for it then it could be attributed to nostalgia and a flare for the old school feel of Star Wars that a lot of people that are wishing we could go back to the simplistic times of the original trilogy. That statement might seem a bit problematic but honestly the original trilogy, as many difficulties as it had during its own time, was still a phenomenon that was insanely special during its time. The many peripheral shows and movies that have been seen to spring from the main trilogy have been popular and horrible respectively, but overall the love of Star Wars has never really gone away and hopefully won’t for some time. For whoever is lucky enough to put up the money for this van the love had better be pretty powerful to be honest.

To say that there’s a great deal of controversy concerning Star Wars and everything that goes with it these days is kind of an understatement, but the overall love that a person has for the franchise, that is their own and no one else’s, should be more bound in personal taste than what is popular in modern culture. This van is nothing short of cool since it’s been artfully and very tastefully done in a manner that shows a lot of respect and a lot of care for the artwork even if the artist is or isn’t a Star Wars fan. Ever notice how those that pain vehicles with various graphics take a great deal of pride in their work and make sure that it looks as accurate and impressive as possible? That’s amazing really and inspiring all at once since this type of work can’t be easy and it can be very temperamental.

Reportedly, as Rob Elmsie of Jalopnik has displayed, the van was put up for sale only a month ago with the price tag of $9,800, a price that might be well out of range for some folks but easily within range for others. You can imagine that some people have been eyeing it as a collector’s item while others might be thinking of cruising down the street to show off a bit.
