That Time Bojack Horseman Solved Gun Control

If only Bojack Horseman’s lesson on gun control was available to the rest of the world. No, you don’t think so? Unfortunately neither do I. To be honest I’m not a gun fan nor do I really enjoy them at all but the simple fact is that the weapon a person chooses to keep for sport, hunting, or just for their own personal collection isn’t the problem. It’s the intent that a person has with those guns that becomes the biggest issue. In this episode we see that women are kind of under attack when it comes to their ability to own or operate a firearm, which is about as nonsensical as it gets since some women are likely a lot more responsible when it comes to firearms than men are.

But the issue of simply taking guns away isn’t what’s going to solve the issue of mass shootings that have been going on lately. Look at it this way, if you take something away from someone they’re going to find a way to get it back and then hide it away from those that aren’t allowing them to have it. It’s something that some of us might have done as kids and can relate to. Even if they don’t go do that there are other ways of obtaining what they want so as to spite the ruling authority or to perhaps replace that ruling authority. In other words, getting rid of guns isn’t the answer, no matter how much some people want it to be.

I’m starting to think that there’s no such thing as sensible legislature, as though it’s an oxymoron that was cooked up to make something sound legit when really it’s about one of the worst things to ever come along. Sensible and government don’t seem to walk hand in hand in the USA any longer, if they did to begin with. What’s sensible for some people will seem entirely pointless to others and vice versa. The idea that all people can be satisfied with one singular idea is hard to fathom since it hasn’t happened yet and it might not since people are completely different on so many levels that trying to appease one person usually ticks the next person off.

Gun control is kind of like attempting to take a ball out of a dog’s mouth. You can tug and tug but the chances are that until you really flex your strength and command the dog in an imperious voice to let go, they’ll keep holding on. Plus, if you let go of the ball, as will happen eventually, the dog will find it, will get it, and will continue to covet it. Taking away guns is not a great idea since then they become something forbidden and as a rule of nature they’ll be desired that much more. Telling anyone that they can’t have something is never a wise idea since it then becomes a challenge to some and a dare to others.
