In what was crowned the best season premiere in the history of the show, Dancing with the Stars kicked off Season 14 with a huge, glittery bang. All the dances wowed the crowd, with the judges awarding a handful of 8s and 9s to more than half of the couples. As the bar was set high very early, there is even more pressure on the contestants tonight. With so many couples performing so well, is there even room for growth? The judges have to be conscious of this now that they’ve had the chance to reflect and just might be more conservative in their scoring from here on in.
One thing is certain, tonight’s dances are very different from the dance each couple had to perform in the season premiere. And so we will see whether beginner’s luck blessed the ballroom last week or if these dancing stars really do have what it takes. In Week 2 of Dancing with the Stars, the couples who danced foxtrot last week take on the jive and those who danced a cha cha take on the quickstep:
-Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas – jive
-Jaleel White & Kym Johnson – jive
-Martina Navratilova & Tony Dovolani – jive
-Jack Wagner & Anna Trebunskaya – jive
-Gavin DeGraw & Karina Smirnoff – jive
-Sherri Shepherd & Val Chmerkovskiy – jive
-Melissa Gilbert & Maks Chmerkovskiy – quickstep
-William Levy & Cheryl Burke – quickstep
-Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower- quickstep
-Gladys Knight & Tristan MacManus – quickstep
-Maria Menounos & Derek Hough – quickstep
-Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd – quickstep
The couples’ scores from tonight will be added to their Week 1 scores then calculated with viewer votes from both weeks to send the first couple home onTuesday night. Katherine and Jaleel are tied for first at 26 going in to Week 2. Can they maintain their lead? Gavin, Melissa and Martina are tied with 20 to round out the bottom of the leader board. Will they be able to rise from the ashes? Find out tonight on Dancing with the Stars Monday, March 26, 8 p.m. — 10 p.m. (ET) on ABC.
