1. Clarice Starling- The Silence of the Lambs
Jodie Foster delivered one of the strongest performances of a horror movie heroine when she played Clarice Starling in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’. The character shows true strength, both when faced with the bodies of women who have been gruesomely killed and during her meetings with serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter who is helping her to find another serial killer. This 1991 horror-thriller is based on a book of the same name by Thomas Harris. The screenplay was written by Ted Tally and it was directed by Jonathan Demme. ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ also starred Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glenn, and Ted Levine. This was a commercial success as it grossed $272 million from a budget of $19 million.
