The Top Five Jessica Chastain Movie Roles of Her Career

Jessica Chastain has had a very wide number of roles in which she’s excelled quite easily it looks like. Some of the roles she’s had that are listed below might not be recognizable as the movies they belong to didn’t do all that great in the box office or were there and gone in a very short time, but they’re still some of her best. She’s been performing since she was still a young girl and has worked her way up ever since. She has a love for the theater and can still be seen in stage productions now and again as she continues to split her time between the big screen and other venues.

What’s pretty cool is that her look and attitude actually changes from one role to the next, which is a great quality in any actor.

5. Lawless-Maggie Beaufort

This film didn’t get a whole lot of attention since it wasn’t hyped up all that much, but it was one of the more enjoyable films that had to do with the illegal sale of alcohol and the problems it brought for those in the business. Alongside Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf, Chastain managed to put in a performance that stood more or less because her character wasn’t weak, but she wasn’t the strongest person in the film either.

4. The Huntsman: Winter’s War-Sara

She gets to go all out in this one as Sara, one of the many huntsmen that serve the powerful sorceress Freya. When she is tasked to retrieve the Magic Mirror for her master she and her fellow huntsman, Eric, come to blows and she appears to end his life. Given her expert aim however she only wounds Eric and he comes to aid her and the other huntsmen in overcoming Freya and her resurrected sister, the evil Ravenna.

3. Zero Dark Thirty-Maya

Maya has a lot resting on her shoulders in this movie that mirrors the real life effort to track down and capture or kill Osama Bin Laden. This was a monumental day in the history of the US as it was the efforts of many to obtain the whereabouts of this known terrorist in order to finally shut him down for good. It wasn’t a plan without faults though, and the mess had to fall on someone’s shoulders, no matter if they succeeded or not.

2. Mama-Annabel

Annabel didn’t want kids, and she certainly had no idea what she was getting into when she and her boyfriend took on his nieces after they’d been found in the wilderness where they’d been lost for five years. The only problem was that by taking them in they didn’t just accept responsibility over two innocent lives, they accepted something much darker as well. Throughout the film Annabel eventually bonds with the girls, but still can’t hope to fight Mama with her love alone.

1. The Help-Celia Foote

Celia is a fun character since she’s so utterly clueless most of the time. She just wants people to like her and to be everyone’s friend but can’t understand just why people don’t seem to care for her. She’s not a bad person but is kind of a ditz that tries so hard to get in the good graces of others that she gets hurt easily. When Minnie comes to work for her though she starts to develop a lot more than just her cooking skills. She actually becomes a wiser person.

Jessica Chastain is able to take a role and make it something great.
