It’s impressive that British rapper Big Narstie got up and did the weather forecast but beyond that he might need a little practice. After watching him on another video in which he’s actually performing his raps I have to say that his sound is actually pretty good, but his look is something he needs to work on. His music is something you can bump to and should be featured on a movie or TV show but watching him try to look tough on video is kind of comical. He just doesn’t look tough no matter what. Big Narstie looks like the kind of guy you could be friends with, and a person that could spit a dope rhyme whenever he feels like it. But he really doesn’t look like a tough guy that could do much more than that.
His little stint doing the weather forecast was something that could have been left alone and simply talked about from a distance. On the mic he seems like he’s great and can really get the crowd going but in person, aside from the ability to lay down a rhyme he needs to work on his presentation. Granted he obviously doesn’t do this kind of thing very often, but maybe there’s a reason. It could have been something that was planned in order to have a bit of fun and maybe help him to promote an album or something along those lines, in which case it’s not necessary to be fully impressed.
Celebrities stepping out of their known comfort zones to do stuff like this is a lot of fun sometimes and so long as the news station and the celebrities work together things usually end going just fine. The regular programming isn’t really put on hold but they’re given more leeway to do something fun rather than just staying on task as usual. It’s a good way to show that they are flexible and that it can be a lot of fun to have a guest star on a show that normally wouldn’t see a whole lot of celebrity guests rolling through. Really, when was the last time you saw a big celebrity on an American news channel?
It’s laughable because the celebrity obviously won’t know what they’re doing, and will stumble their way through it. But it’s also easy to laugh since celebrities, perhaps being prone to flubbing a line now and again, are often able to pick up where they left off and keep going. As you can see in the clip below Big Narstie is having fun with and doing his best to make the weather forecast work. At that point it’s just fun and everyone can loosen up and enjoy the moment as it is without thinking that things are going off the rails. The kind of work environment that allows people to have fun like this is usually one of the best type of environments to work in.
In reality though, without offense, Big Narstie looks like a giant plush toy that excels at spitting great lyrics.
