What People Didn’t Realize About Red Skull In Infinity War

The moment when Thanos sacrificed Gamora to get the Soul Stone in Avengers: Infinity War it was one of the most pivotal moments in the film. It was one of the few occasions where Thanos showed some humanity, as he did seem to be genuinely grieving for his adopted daughter. However, the scene also reintroduced the character of Red Skull back into the MCU. It was revealed during Infinity War that Red Skull has been trapped on Vormir since the 1940s. He was transported to that planet when he failed in his attempt to use the Tesseract in the first Captain America movie and he has been there ever since. He had also become the unwilling protector of the Stone Soul.

It is thought that Red Skull knew so much about the Soul Stone because he had learned about it when he was carrying out his research into the Tesseract. He was able to tell Thanos exactly what he needed to do in order to get the stone. Vormir was apparently deserted and so we can only assume that he already had knowledge about the stone before he became stranded on the planet. One thing that was not revealed in Infinity War was what happened to Red Skull after Thanos snapped his fingers. We already know that half of the known universe did survive and so there is a fifty/fifty chance that he is still alive and has a role to play in the next film.

In the Captain America movie he was played by Hugo Weaving but Ross Marquand took over the role in Infinity War. It seems more likely that it will be Marquand continuing in the role but no official cast list has been released yet.
