The Worlds of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood Collide As Mae Whitman and Alexis Bledel Meet

Gilmore Girls

Two of the most beloved shows of the past decade or so of television have been The WB’s Gilmore Girls and NBC’s Parenthood,  and while Parenthood just finished its six-season run back in January, it’s been eight years since Gilmore Girls went off the air. Both shows certainly have a lot in common, with their strong focus on family and the bonds between parents and their children, but even more specifically, what’s really linking the two series together is Lauren Graham, who played Lorelei Gilmore, mother to Rory, on Gilmore Girls and Sarah Braverman, mother to Amber and Drew, on Parenthood.

And while Graham is a very talented actress and had her portrayal of each woman praised for its own, individual merits, the two characters did, in a way, collide this past weekend at the ATX Television Festival, where a Gilmore Girls reunion panel was held, allowing for both of Graham’s TV daughters, Alexis Bledel (who played Rory) and Mae Whitman (who played Amber), to meet for the first time and take two fantastic photos that have since gone viral.

The first of the two photos, both of which were posted by Whitman on Twitter, featured all three women and presented Graham with somewhat of a tough decision to make: which TV daughter would she choose? And just as important, which would TV fans choose?

However, that question, in all its fake tense glory, did last for long, as earlier today, Whitman posted  a new photo of her and Bledel together, stating that she had just been kidding and that “we decided to adopt each other; meet Rory and Amber Bravermore!”

Bravermore…has a nice ring to it and is definitely the better option, as it would be pretty impossible for us to have choice between the likes of Rory and Amber. We both these characters (and these actresses!) and their relationships with their TV moms too much to ever have to decide between  them.
