Is 2018 One of the Best Years of Young and the Restless?

Young and the Restless fans are not sure how we feel about 2018. We want to say it’s been a good year for the show, but it seems that everyone keeps messing up all the things that we thought were good. We want to say 2018 is their year, but we aren’t sure that it is. There are too many happy endings turned tragic moments we can’t even handle, and we find ourselves wondering how we are meant to view this. So, we thought we might sit back and figure out what is happening, how it’s all going down, and what we might do to see if we can make this a more interesting situation for all of us. Is this the best year or did writers take each of the amazing story lines too far?

Sharon and Nick Reunite

Watching this longtime couple come back together after being apart for so long is something fans seemed to be very excited about. She was miserable for so long when she and Nick divorced. She married his father, his brother, Dylan, and everyone in between, and her heart has been broken for so much of her adult life these last few years. But that’s something that is beside the point. We thought that seeing them back together would make them the happiest kids in the world, but that didn’t do much for any of us. We didn’t have much of a say in anything, and that’s something we cannot handle. But, now they are back together — and we should all be happy.

But then Nick slept with Phyllis behind her back, and he’s having a rough time with the temptations around him. Now we are all miserable and unhappy, because we know he’s going to ruin all of it, and that’s just what he does. So, forgive us for no longer thinking this is a good situation for any of them. But, that’s beside the point.

Hilary and Devon Reunite

We don’t know what happened with Hilary this year, but she changed. She turned into a lovely woman we liked a lot better than the person she’s been in the past. It’s almost as if she grew up, became an adult, and decided to make good choices. But that’s not all. She also made it clear she was ready to move on in her life. She wanted to grow up, to have a more mature life, and to get her stuff together. She and Devon decided to have a baby, and they did it. They got pregnant and decided to fall back in love.

We watched, we loved it, and we kind of ignored the fact that his entire family was upset about it. And then Lily ran a red light, Hilary was hurt badly, the baby she was carrying died, and then she died. It was a beautiful moment that turned tragic, and yet we still loved every second of it. But seeing that Devon blames his sister and is willing to let her go to jail and leave behind her kids and her life for so long does nothing for us. It was a good story line, and then it was not.

Jack

Okay, so, here we go. We hated this story line. It’s old, and it’s played out. Listen, they already took away being an Abbott from Ashley when she found out her mother, Dina, was too busy sleeping around to know who she was having babies with. And then to find out that she did the same with Jack, but she has no idea who might be his father is too much. Sure, she has some issues with her mind and her memory, but it’s making her look crazed, out of control, and really awful to have to go through this situation again with the, “Oops. No, your dad is someone else, but there were so many men I just don’t know who it was who knocked me up,” and w are so tired of that story. We are sad for Jack, who has to deal with the tragic story line, and we want to see more of this show from the writers. And we want to know if you agree.
