Young and the Restless Characters We Never Really Loved

Young and the Restless fans are nothing if not loyal, and that means they have their favorites — and they don’t always want to have anyone else around here on any occasion. Sometimes characters come and go, and they make choices to get their lives in order, and we don’t always know how that works out for them. But what we do know is this; there are some characters we just cannot get on board with. Do you have a list of least favorite characters you wish never appeared or you simply struggle to like no matter what you do? We do.

Courtney Sloane

She came to town for a purpose, but it was not believable. She was all kinds of good friends with Summer Newman, who we know is trouble all the way. They were like teenage besties who giggled all the time, had the best time ever, and never took anything too seriously. That was super believable. When it all came out that she was actually an undercover police officer who was there on a mission, however, we had a hard time believing it. She was too much the teenage bestie that was going to have issues with being taken seriously as a cop, and we were not off on that assessment. No one got on board with this, and she was quickly murdered.

Mariah Copeland

We just can’t. She did a beautiful tribute to Hilary, but she’s basically the most boring character ever. She’s all right. We don’t dislike her at all. She certainly isn’t worthy of any hate or ill will, but she really is just the most dull, most boring, most unexciting person on the show. She’s not someone we overly enjoy watching. Her storyline with Tessa made things a bit more interesting with her for a while, but we don’t think there is much that can be done to make her interesting as a whole. She’s just not there as a character. She’s not someone we are with in terms of being awesome. She’s too boring. We can’t handle her.

Abby Newman

We might be unpopular for our opinion here, but we just don’t get her. She’s someone who has a tough life. She’s both an Abbott and a Newman, and she’s got people everywhere. She has to choose who she likes, who she doesn’t like, and she’s constantly in the middle of two very powerful families. But really, her issue is that she just doesn’t get it. She can’t get along with any of her siblings. She doesn’t understand why her parents don’t see her as more serious and worthy of more, and she’s not sure why Victoria gets more power at Newman than she does. She forgets she is so young, and she also forgets that she’s not someone who ever makes good decisions. She’s on the spoiled train, and it’s hard to like her when she gets herself into trouble doing whatever she wants and then expecting her family to take care of her.

Nick Newman

All right. We might not be popular for saying this, but we don’t get Nick. He’s a longtime soap love here, and we just don’t like him. He’s always in the middle of an issue with his dad, he’s a bit whiny, and he’s never really in control of anything. He is one of those men who strikes us as always looking for approval, but then being a total teenager when he’s not getting his way. He flip flops women like it’s his job, he seems constantly envious of his dead brother, and he can’t get his life in order — ever. He is rarely in control of his life, and he cannot get things to go his way no matter how hard he tries. He’s like that guy who says all the big things, but he fails to actually come up with them or make anything happen for himself. He’s just not our favorite, and we are totally okay saying that. We don’t love him, and we think he needs a better story line on a more regular basis. Let’s man him up.
